FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you accepting new patients?
A: Yes, we are accepting new patients of all ages for orthodontic treatment, including adults.

Q: What insurance do you take?
A: We can submit to most insurances as a courtesy. We are a provider for Delta Dental PPO, Carefirst PPO, Sunlife PPO, United Concordia Prestige and Delaware Medicaid. Additionally, for Orthodontics only we are providers for The Dental Network.

Q: How much is an orthodontic evaluation?
A: There is no charge/fee for an orthodontic evaluation. We do require/ask that if your general dentist (referring dentist) has taken a panoramic x-ray that we have a copy at the time of the visit. The panoramic x-ray must be less than one year old or we will take one for a fee to be paid at time of service.

Q: How much are braces or Invisalign?
A: Fees are based on several factors and each patient is different. We can schedule an orthodontic evaluation at no cost to you so that Dr. Vickers can give you a better idea of treatment timing and cost.

Q: How do you get to your office?
A: We have two office locations: Berlin and Salisbury. Click here to view our locations

Q: What is done at the new patient cleaning appointment?
A: The patient is scheduled with the hygienist who is trained to educate and clean the patient's teeth. Most importantly, we are a Team to meet and inform you of how we want to help prevent cavities and improve oral hygiene at all ages. X-rays are taken at the age appropriate stages and on a regular basis that is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Q: Can the parent come back with the child?
A: Yes, we have an Open Door policy. We welcome the accompanying adult to sit in designated comfortable areas to watch their child's experience.

Q: My child's permanent tooth is coming in and the baby tooth is still present, do I need to come in for an appointment?
A: On the lower arch this is very common. If the baby tooth is loose it is usually fine. Just try to keep wiggling or twisting the tooth to help it out. If the baby tooth is not loose you may need to come in for an appointment.

Q: What are your hours?
A: We are open for patient care on Monday-Wednesday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Thursday: 8:00 am-4:300 pm. Fridays are not normal patient hours but the staff is there to answer the phones from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.

Q: Do you offer the use of General Anesthesia for children who need lots of restorative work?
A: No, we offer nitrous oxide as a form of Anti-anxiety sedation drug.

Q: Why do you not take children over 13 years of age as new patients for cleanings?
A: Children at that age have mostly all of their adult dentition and would be ok in the hands of a general dentist. Dr. Vickers is a pediatric dentist and will start the graduating of her patients around the age of 18. She is also an Orthodontist so she can see patients of any age including adults.

Q: What age should a child start at your office?
A: We recommend that a child establish a Dental home at the age of 1 year old.

Q: Why are you booked so far out for appointments?
A: As the only Dual Trained Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics we tend to be very popular, but try our best to accommodate all of our patients in a timely manner.

Q: Do you accept Maryland Medicaid?
A: No, unfortunately we cannot bill to that insurance.

Q: Where is the Salisbury office located?
A: Across from the Shorebirds stadium, down the service road that runs parallel to Rt. 50, where Holt Paper and Atlantic Tractor are located.

Q: What days are you in Berlin?
A: Dr. Vickers is in the Berlin office on Mondays and Thursdays.
